A thriller of a game sees both teams take home one point

Cameroon and Serbia played out a thrilling 3-3 draw at the Al Janoub Stadium on Monday the 28th of November. This result meant that both teams are stuck on one point earned from two games in Group G after they lost their opening encounters.

It was the Indomitable Lions who broke the deadlock in the 29th minute as Jean-Charles Castelletto got on the end of a flick delivered from a corner kick. However, Serbia not only equalized, but went ahead by the end of the first half, with stoppage time goals from Strahinja Pavlovic and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. While Pavlovic got his head to a Dusan Tadic freekick, Milinkovic-Savic's goal was the result of high pressing near the Cameroonian penalty area.

Seven minutes after the restart, the Serbians added their third of the match through Aleksandar Mitrovic after a wonderful team play involving five players (Tadic, Filip Kostic, Milinkovic Savic and Andrija Zivkovic being the other four). Just after the hour mark, substitute Vincent Aboubakar scored one of the contenders for the Goal of the Tournament with an outrageous lob over the Serbian keeper, Vanja Milinkovic-Savic. Initially, it was flagged for offside but on VAR's review, the goal stood. The former FC Porto man was involved again in Cameroon's equalizer as he assisted Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting in the 66th minute. Neither team could find the winning goal after that.

This meeting is likely to go down as one of the best World Cup group games in recent times. However, with no winner in this game, both the team's chances to qualify for the round of 16 took a downturn. So there's all to play for in the final round of fixtures for the Indomitable Lions and the Serbs as they take on Brazil (who've already booked their place in the round of 16) and Switzerland respectively.
